KALYVES
Kalyves is a coastal village with about 1,500 inhabitants on the east coast of the Gulf of Souda. It is 18 km from Chania and 27 km from Chania airport. They are built amphitheatrically along the beach and on two hills between which the river Xyda passes. Kalyves is located in a fertile green valley and thanks to the river Xydas and the river Kyliari that flows west of the village, they are an oasis of coolness on hot summer nights.
The award-winning blue flag beach of Kalyves is sandy, with shallow and crystal clear waters. It is fully organized as it has showers, umbrellas, sunbeds and lifeguard. Along the beach there are various cafes and taverns from which you can get the drinks and snacks you need while you are on the beach, but also enjoy your meal and relax after your swimming.
Kalyves is developed for tourism and is inhabited all year round. Therefore, it can meet your every need as it has many stores, restaurants, cafes, supermarkets, car rental agencies as well as banks, post office, pharmacies and doctor’s office. With a base in Kalyves you can make excursions to many parts of Western Crete as the surrounding areas are rich in attractions and beautiful beaches.
Sofia accommodation is within walking distance of all points of Kalyves as it is only 200 meters from the beach and bus stop and 600 meters from the center of the village.
